Building your store

Home page sections

Open your home page in the theme editor and use Add section to build it. Boudoir includes an image banner, featured collection, collection explorer, hero band, lookbook, collection list, blog posts, image with text, testimonials, video band, gallery, and product recommendations. Drag sections to reorder them, and open each one to change its settings.

The signature hero effect

Make the first section on the home page an Image banner. It stays pinned while the next section scrolls up over it with rounded corners. This sticky-scroll hero only works when the Image banner is first.

Product cards that preview more photos

In the Featured collection and Product recommendations sections, moving the cursor across a product card's image cycles through that product's other photos. It works best for products with several images, such as best sellers, and gives shoppers a quick look from more angles without leaving the page. On touch devices, and for visitors who prefer reduced motion, the card simply shows the main image.

Boudoir supports multi-level dropdown menus.

  1. Create the menu under Online Store → Navigation, nesting items beneath top-level links.
  2. Assign it under Theme settings → Menus and in the Header section.

Nested items appear as dropdowns on desktop and as expandable accordions on mobile.

Collections and filters

Collection pages support sorting and faceted filters by availability, price, product type, vendor, and variant options. Both the filters and the "Pairs well with" recommendations on product pages come from Shopify's free Search & Discovery app. Configure them there and they appear on the storefront automatically.

The list-collections page shows each collection's image, title, and product count in a clean grid, so customers can see the full range of your store at a glance.

Currency and language

Add your countries and languages under Settings → Markets, and translate your content with Shopify's Translate & Adapt app. The header and mobile menu show currency and language selectors automatically whenever more than one option is available.

Blog and pages

Use the Blog posts section to feature articles on the home page, and the blog and article templates for your journal. Article comments appear once you enable them under Online Store → Preferences. The contact page template includes a working contact form. Standard pages use the page template, where you can show or hide the small eyebrow label above the page title with its Show eyebrow label setting.

Gift cards

When you sell a gift-card product, its page shows the code, a scannable QR code, an Add to Apple Wallet button, and your logo. No extra setup is required.
