Getting started

There are four steps between installing Boudoir and a finished storefront: open the theme, set your brand, connect your menus, then add products and build your pages.

1. Add and open the theme

In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes, add Boudoir to your theme library, and click Customize to open it in the theme editor. Unless noted otherwise, everything in this guide happens in the theme editor.

2. Set your brand

Open Theme settings from the bottom of the theme editor sidebar and work through the first three groups:

  • Brand: upload a logo and favicon, or leave the logo empty to use the text wordmark. Set the logo height for desktop and mobile.
  • Colors: set Ink for text, Paper for the page background, Cream for secondary surfaces, and your Accent color.
  • Typography: choose your Serif and Sans fonts. Boudoir ships with Playfair Display and Poppins.

The full reference is in Theme settings.

3. Connect your menus

Create your menus under Online Store → Navigation: a main menu, with items nested to form dropdowns, and a footer menu. Back in the theme editor, assign the main menu under Theme settings → Menus and in the Header section, and set the footer menu in the Footer section.

4. Add products and build your pages

Add your products and collections from the Shopify admin. Then, in the theme editor, use Add section to assemble your home page and arrange the blocks on your product template.

From here, Building your store and Product pages go into detail.
